Delayed egress · SDC & RF Technologies

Exits stay secure for a few seconds, then release.

Delayed egress locks hold an exit door for 15 or 30 seconds, sound an alarm so staff can respond, and release immediately on a fire alarm signal. TBM installs SDC and RF Technologies hardware.

How it works

Four steps at the door

  1. Push

Someone pushes the exit device or door.

  2. Alarm & countdown

A local alarm sounds and the countdown starts, with a voice message on SDC ExitCheck.

  3. Door releases

After 15 seconds (30 where approved) the door unlocks.

  4. Staff reset

The lock is reset by key or keypad.

Life safety first: SDC delayed egress locks release immediately in an emergency, and a signal from the fire alarm system releases the lock. SDC notes that all installations must be approved by the local Authority Having Jurisdiction.
